Have you checked your Attitude Lately?

To quote Winston Churchill, “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” Attitude is a state of mind — how you feel about work, life, family, etc.  A positive attitude improves your mental well-being, promotes confidence, and fosters good relationships.  A negative attitude reduces trust, increases skepticism, and alienates others. According to the The Mayo Clinic , overall attitude can even impact our metal, physical, and emotional health.

Time for an attitude check?

Attitudes can change based on our environment, experiences, or the company that we keep.  This year has certainly been filled with a variety of challenges that have molded our attitudes, thus exposing feelings and emotions that we may not have ever experienced before.  Keep in mind, a positive attitude can quickly turn into a negative, complaining one if we do not check it on a regular basis.

Our attitude will be reflected in the quality of our lives and can be seen in how we respond to daily interactions and engagements.  Here are some questions that can help you examine your attitude and pinpoint areas where there might be room for improvement:

  • How do you feel about your boss?
  • How do you feel about your significant other?
  • How do you feel about your family?
  • How do you feel about following the rules or following directions?
  • Does it come naturally for you to show respect to others?

These self-reflective questions will be answered by the actions displayed as a result of your attitude.
