Traditionally, the month of May has been a time to celebrate graduates of all academic levels; K-12, Undergraduate, Graduate, and Doctorate. Family, friends, and co-workers share in the celebration of these major accomplishments, and certainly, the last couple of years highlight the need to celebrate prouder and louder than ever. For some, the road to graduation was smooth sailing whereas for others the road was rocky. It does not matter which road you traveled or how long you had to travel, you made it – CELEBRATE!

The act of graduating denotes a movement in rank and personal growth and despite our academic level or status, all of us can continue to grow in knowledge, experience, and education. Graduation is a time to reflect on where we have been and where we are going. For some, this will be the beginning of adulthood. For others, the beginning of a new career, promotion, or transition to something unexpectant. Younger generations will continue to grow in the formative years of early education and envision themselves completing K-12 with the option of pursuing higher education.

Although not everyone will pursue higher education, this does not minimize the importance of education nor, should we judge those that have chosen not to pursue higher education. It only shows that we all have choices to make for the best path forward for our continued personal and professional growth.

For the 2022 graduates of all ranks and categories, do not forget to say “THANK YOU” to those that have been on the journey with you and continue to support you whether you are just starting, transitioning, or completing your educational goals. Go forth and make the best of your education.
